Playing sports carries some risk of injury. Parents and coaches need to be made aware if your child has hit their head or is having symptoms of a head injury, even if it means stopping play. Athletes with suspected concussions should not return to play until they see a doctor. Furthermore, there is no evidence that medication treatment heals a concussion. Rest is the main treatment. Symptoms usually resolve in 7 to 10 days but some may take weeks or months to fully recover. Seeking advice from your health care provider is imperative.
